Match Recap: Tunley AFC 2 – 1 Burnham United Reserves

Tunley AFC showed grit and character in a hard-earned 2–1 victory over BurnhamUnited Reserves, coming from behind to claim all three points.

The visitors struck first in the 13th minute, when a corner swung into the box and a Burnham player shook free of his defender, striking the ball first time and directing it straight into the net for a sharp opener. But Tunley hit back just after the half-hour mark when Jamie Taylor broke clear on the counter, outpacing the Burnham defence coolly slotting beyond the keeper to level the score.

From there the match became a proper contest, with chances at both ends and neither side willing to give an inch. The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute. Ben Curtis, calm as you like, picked up the ball just inside the 18-yard box and steered a measured finish into the far corner, sparking big celebrations from the Tunley faithful.

Burnham pressed late on, but Ryan Edmunds was immense between the sticks, producing a string of superb saves to protect the lead. With the back four holding firm and the midfield working tirelessly, Tunley saw out the contest to seal a well-deserved win.

On the balance of play, Tunley shaded possession, passed the ball with more composure, and fashioned the clearer openings. It was the sort of resilient performance that will give the side real confidence heading into the next run of fixtures.
